Business
Ingevity Corporation (NYSE: NGVT) manufactures and sells specialty chemicals, activated carbon products, and engineered polymers that purify, protect, and enhance industrial applications worldwide. Founded in 1964 and headquartered in North Charleston, South Carolina, the company operates through three main segments: Performance Materials, offering activated carbon for gasoline vapor emission control in automotive evaporative systems, air and water purification; Advanced Polymer Technologies, providing caprolactone polymers and engineered materials for automotive components, certified biodegradable bioplastics, industrial and consumer plastics enhancement; and Performance Chemicals, supplying emulsifiers, additives, surfactants, and pavement technologies for asphalt paving and infrastructure, oilfield applications, industrial specialties, adhesives, agrochemicals, coatings, elastomers, and pavement markings. Ingevity maintains manufacturing facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia, serving automotive, infrastructure, energy, and industrial markets with approximately 1,600 employees. Recent strategic changes include the announcement in early 2025 to explore divestiture of its Performance Chemicals Industrial Specialties product line and North Charleston crude tall oil refinery to focus on higher-margin specialties, with the sale expected to close by early 2026; expansion of its partnership with CHASM in November 2025 through a licensing agreement for carbon nanotube production to support EV battery materials in North America and Europe, building on a 2024 joint development pact; and ongoing portfolio repositioning with $84 million in cost savings realized in 2024 from Performance Chemicals actions, alongside revised 2025 guidance projecting net sales of $1.25 billion to $1.35 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $390 million to $410 million.
